What We Believe

  • We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, all sixty-six books, are true and without error, the Word of God. They are the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

  • We believe in only one God, infinite Spirit and Creator-Ruler of all.  He eternally exists in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; equal in every perfection but functioning in distinct, harmonious offices.

  • We believe Jesus Christ is of one essence and co-equal with the Father and the Spirit from all eternity. In the incarnation He was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born from the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.  He lived a perfect life, died on the cross in substitution for our sins, was resurrected bodily to be seen of men and ascended into Heaven. There, He is our High Priest and Advocate.

  • We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit Who takes an active part in every work of the Godhead. All who are saved are baptized, indwelt and sealed eternally by Him.

  • We believe the Devil, Satan, is a person who was created as a perfect angelic being. He became wicked by his own choice and is presently the chief adversary of the saints, assisted by fallen angels.

  • We believe man was created perfect by God. The first man, Adam, sinned by personal choice, and thereby incurred a sin nature not only for himself but for the whole human race. The consequence is physical and spiritual death.

  • We believe that all who obey the gospel by faith are regenerated and become thereby eternally the children of God. Good works have no part in securing this salvation but saving faith always produces good works.

  • We believe that the assembling together of believers into an independent, self-governing local church is commanded of God. The purpose is mutual edification from Scripture, service to God and fellowship among believers.

  • We believe there are only two scriptural ordinances to be observed by a local church and they are baptism of believers by immersion and the Lord's Supper.

  • We believe in the bodily resurrection or transformation of the saints unto everlasting blessedness at the imminent, personal return of Christ. We also believe in the bodily resurrection of unbelievers to everlasting conscious punishment, which is the second death.
